what is and how does oxy-fuel cutting work?



There are many other names of flame cutting, such as gas cutting, oxygen-acetylene cutting, oxygen-propane cutting, etc. It is the oldest way of thermal cutting, flame cutting gas commonly used acetylene, propane, liquefied petroleum gas, coke oven gas, natural gas, etc. Its cutting thickness of the metal is from 1mm to 1.2mm.while according the use of different gas during the cutting the temperature can up to thousands degrees. The flame use the  temperature burned by the mixed gas of oxygen and nitrogen to melt steel. While the high-pressure oxygen jet stream blowing slag, and moving the torch to form a neat cut stitch. The design of the flame torch provides sufficient oxygen to burn and oxide the steel, in order to ensure the good cutting results. The low cost of the flame cutting equipment and it is the only cost-effective way to cut the hick metal plate.But it has shortcomings of cutting the thin steel plate. Compared with the plasma, the heat affected zone and thermal deformation are much larger. In order to cut accurately and effectively, the operator needs to have a superb technical skill to avoid thermal deformation of the metal plate during the cutting process.


Why the stainless steel cannot be cut by flame cutting machine?

Because the stainless steel contained of nickel, chromium, manganese and other elements which are not easy oxidation, surface easily form a dense chromium oxide protective layer to prevent oxidation of the internal material. It is difficult to process the cutting work. If rise temperature relutantly to do the cutting operation.It will result in uneve cutting surface and cannot reach the desired cutting state. And that kind of processing quality should not be called cutting, but it is called melting.
